how to install cc in sims 4 (2026 edition)

the 5-minute version, with screenshots from a fresh install.

installing custom content for the sims 4 is genuinely one of the easiest things in modding — but ea has hidden the mods folder in a slightly silly place, and the launcher will silently skip mods if you forget one checkbox.

step 1 — find your mods folder

open Documents/EA/Sims 4/Mods. if it's not there yet, launch the game once — it'll create the folder for you.

✦ pro tip: pin this folder to your sidebar. you'll be opening it weekly.

step 2 — drop in the .package files

you can nest folders up to 5 deep. organising by creator (Mods/kawaiistacie/...) is the way most people stay sane.

step 3 — enable script mods

in game: Game Options → Other → check both "Enable Custom Content" and "Script Mods Allowed", then restart. that's it — your CC will load.
